Jewellery made from plants

19.12.2017

When creation and nature merge!

Meet Romuald who combines his passions by creating ethnic and ecological jewellery, accessories and decorative items.

" I am inspired by the work of the indigenous people of the Amazon, but also by current trends and fashions, which allows me to have a very varied range. »

His unique creations are entirely handmade, using exotic seeds. Romuald works with more than 70 varieties of seeds from the Peruvian rainforest (vegetable ivory, açai, huayruro...). All the seeds used come from fruits, plants or trees that grow in large quantities, so that we can work in an environmentally friendly way. Some of these seeds are dyed to follow the colour trend.

Romuald himself goes to Peru to collect all these seeds, more precisely from the Amazon basin to the foothills of the Andes. The Amazon is the richest region in the world in terms of biodiversity!

what is vegetable ivory?

Plant ivory is the albumen of the fruit of the ivory palm, which grows in dense, shady forests on the sides of valleys at altitudes of 300 to 1,200 metres. It is found in the heart of the Amazon rainforest in Ecuador, Colombia, Peru and other countries around the world where it has been introduced. When the flowers bloom, they give off a sweet scent that perfumes the whole region. Before ripening, the fruit of these palms contains a sweet milk that the Indians appreciate. This albumen then hardens into vegetable ivory.
