No-mow month!

28.04.2023

In May, Terra Botanica is introducing a "no-mow month". This new trend, which comes all the way from the UK, consists of not mowing the grass during the month of May. The British NGO Plantlife notes that "100 square metres of unmown lawn would produce enough pollen to feed six mining bee brood cells and enough nectar to meet the needs of six bumblebees a day".

Real environmental challenges

But these are not the only creatures to benefit from the absence of mowing. Insects and other small animals are generally happy to live in tall grass. As for plants, buttercups, poppies, dandelions and other plants flourish without worrying about the blades.

This event meets environmental challenges by preserving the biodiversity of green and natural spaces, and reducing pollution by limiting the use of inputs and fertilizers. It is also conducive to the management of natural resources (saving water and managing green waste, etc.).
